9-month project · 600 accounts · 18 TB · migRaven.24/7 + migRaven.one

Reference project

Consolidation of grown directory and permission structures

In this nine-month IT project, we carried out comprehensive data consolidation and permission management for 600 accounts. This included consolidating grown directory structures and 18 TB of data. By using migRaven.24/7 Analyzer and migRaven.one, we cleaned up 85% of old data that was more than two years old and removed 60% of all explicit permissions. With a newly built directory structure following best practice and improved permission management, we created a solid foundation for efficient, secure data management.

Reference project

Consolidation of 24 locations into one data center

The project aimed to centralize the IT infrastructure of 1,700 users across 24 locations by consolidating the data into a shared data center. Over the 16-month project term, the data and access permissions were consolidated to create a more efficient, more secure IT environment. The main tasks included consolidating domains, cleaning up and reorganizing data structures, and introducing an automated permission management system (IAM).

70,000 employees · 80 subsidiaries · 32,000 DFS links

Reference project

SharePoint migration for approx. 70,000 employees across 80 subsidiaries

The focus was on 32,000 DFS links, 3.2 PB of data, and 28 billion documents. The challenges included a complex starting structure with permissions only at the first level, a high proportion of outdated data, and data owners who were partly no longer current. In addition, the starting structure didn't meet SharePoint migration guidelines, particularly for file types and directories with over 100,000 files.

12-month project · Open Enterprise Server → Active Directory

Reference project

OES migration for 2,800 users

In this 12-month project, 2,800 client computers were migrated from Open Enterprise Server (formerly Novell) to Active Directory. Numerous challenges were overcome along the way: synchronization was established between non-integrated client computers that, due to COVID-19, were only reachable via VPN; overly complex directory structures were cleaned up; and inconsistencies in account names between Novell and AD were resolved. In addition, a new directory structure and permission concept were established, servers were joined to the domain, a permission management system was introduced, and user profile directories were transferred to desktops.

24-month project · Active Directory + file system

Reference project

Clean-up of Active Directory and file system

The project covered cleaning up and restructuring Active Directory and the file system over a term of 24 months. The main goals were reworking a complex directory structure that had grown over more than 20 years, redesigning permissions, and ensuring audit-proof data archiving. Key challenges included dealing with overly deep structures and permissions, path lengths that prevented files from opening, and a large share of outdated data.

24,000 employees · 48,000 directories · 12,000 DFS links

Reference project

SharePoint migration for 24,000 employees

The project involved migrating the entire directory structure of 24,000 employees, 12,000 DFS links, and 48,000 directories with explicit permissions, as well as 2.4 PB of data, to SharePoint O365. Complex challenges arose: a deeply structured starting point with permissions down to the fourth level, a high share of legacy data, and partly outdated data owner information. The solution was to identify 70% of the irrelevant directories using the migRaven.24/7 Analyzer and reassign data owners accordingly. The migration was then carried out with migRaven.one.

What our customers say

Voices from IT management and administration on projects with migRaven, the migRaven.Analyzer, and tenfold.

GEMAC GmbH Logo
„Used migRaven.one to implement the user permissions of a file server, moving from local Windows 2000 users to a 2012-era domain structure. 2 days of work together with an aikux employee, 1 minute to shut down the old server, and the job was done — a top-notch tool. Together with on-site support, it saves a lot of time, and the permissions are up to date (cleaned up right away) — what more could you want?“

Lebenshilfe Bremen e.V. Logo
„Lebenshilfe Bremen used the Analyzer to restructure the historically grown file structure on the file server, including permissions. The intuitive presentation of the migRaven.Analyzer was very helpful here, allowing data owners to analyze their own areas themselves. This significantly sped up the restructuring process.“

Adam Hall GmbH Logo
„The company aikux supported us in consolidating company data onto a Windows file server. To meet the requirements of the business units, a new folder structure with clear permissions was developed together with the technical consultants. Existing file links were adapted to the new structure during the migration. Throughout the entire project, aikux's staff were always there for us with competent support. Our requirements were implemented to our complete satisfaction.“
